Oklahoma is known for its oil and gas and mineral deposits, which makes it a terrific state for CP Royalties to be mineral rights, oil and gas royalty buyers. With areas like the Mississippian (Mississippian Lime) being one of the most recent, more active plays in the state and the Midcontinent Granite wash as a series of tight gas plays (Buffalo Wallow, Colony West, Lard Ranch, and Styles Ranch) running from the Texas Panhandle to the SW Oklahoma, there are many areas to buy oil and gas royalties and mineral rights in.
The Mississippian Lime is comprised of a carbonate formation that mostly produces oil. Running through a great deal of Northern Oklahoma and Southern Kansas, it has been vertically drilled since the 1940’s, and had its first horizontal well drilled in 2007. The Midcontinent Granite Wash has some oil production happening, while also containing a sandstone reservoir about 30 miles wide and 160 miles long. Horizontal and vertical drilling are both being used to produce reserves from this area.
